About

I love books, coffee, adventures, grace, and better stories. Most of my time is spent juggling a crazy work schedule and graduate classes. I am blessed with a wonderful family and incredible friends.I live and work in Washington, D.C. but claim equally as my home Michigan, Indiana, and Southern California.

This blog is about learning to navigate and love the tension between practical limitations and impractical dreams. It's about balancing the demands of the practical with the pursuit of the ideal. It's about relentlessly pursuing the vision while energetically engaging the real. It's also about remembering to always make time to read.

The name of this blog is taken from a poem by A.A. Milne since, really, this blog is about living somewhere between the bottom and the top, not quite where I was, but still not yet where I want to be. Halfway down the stairs, of course, also happens to be the best place to read.
Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair where I sit:
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom,
I'm not at the top:
So this is the stair where I always stop.

Halfway up the stairs
Isn't up, and isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town:
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run round my head:
"It isn't really anywhere! It's somewhere else instead!"

- A. A. Milne
